Women Who ROCK Nashville
​Nomination Categories

This is your chance to honor the fearless women who are making waves in the Nashville scene. Nominees must be 21 and up, so rally your friends, co-workers, trailblazing individuals and shine a spotlight on the incredible women who inspire you! Don’t miss out on recognizing the talented, passion, and powerful women that defines Nashville.

ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT AWARD
Honoring a woman who has made significant contributions to their organizations through transformative leadership, mentorship, and innovative initiatives that foster empowerment and positive change. Nominees must demonstrate a minimum of three years of impactful work that inspires and uplifts those around them, creating a lasting legacy within their workplace and the broader community.


MOTIVATION MOTHER AWARD
Honoring a mother that has overcome significant hardships to make meaningful contributions to society through education, community service, or mentorship for a minimum of three years.


EDUCATION AWARD
Recognizing a woman serving the Nashville community for at least three years as a teacher or community educator who has gone above and beyond to ensure that others receive a quality education.

SOCIAL JUSTICE AWARD

Honoring a woman who has actively advocated for a cause or addressed a challenging social issue to improve the lives of others for at least three years.


COMMUNITY ACTIVIST AWARD
Recognizing a woman who has demonstrated commitment through volunteering and dedicated service to the Nashville community for a minimum of three years.

​UNSUNG HERO AWARD
Honoring a woman employed as a police officer, firefighter, member of armed forces, etc who has been risking her life to protect the Nashville community for at least three years.

HEALTH IMPACT AWARD
Recognizing a woman who has used innovative methods to improve society and health through recycling, agriculture, healthy living, o
r fitness initiatives for at least three years.

TRIUMPH AWARD
A woman who has overcome tragedy, a difficult situation in society or disability, while using life experiences to improve the Nashville community for at least three years.

INSPIRING ARTS AWARDS

Recognizing a creative woman who inspires the Nashville community through her artistic talent in music, theater, fine artist, film, etc for at least three years.

VOTER COMMITTEE FOR NOMINEES 
A Voter Committee will be formed to evaluate nominees for each award category. This committee will consist of community leaders and previous WWRN award recipients who will review the information provided about each nominee. Judges may reach out to nominees for additional information to aid in their final selections. If a nominee is no longer in their designated role, judges reserve the right to adjust their category. Additionally, the judging panel may decide not to award a category or reassign nominees to different categories as deemed appropriate. To be eligible for consideration, nominees must complete all requirements outlined in the nominee letter, which includes purchasing a ticket and submitting a headshot.


The Shirley Gene Scholarship
A $1,000.00 award to a young woman who demonstrates leadership skills, excels academically, possesses a positive sense of identity, and shows innovation. One scholarship will be awarded annually. Please note that if you have previously received this scholarship, you are no longer eligible to apply. We encourage eligible candidates to apply now!

Eligibility Process
To be eligible, applicants must be young women aged 17 to 19. You will need to submit a 500-1000 word essay that addresses a need in your community and outlines how you plan to contribute to meeting that need while in high school, or college. Please ensure you adhere to all specified deadlines for the scholarship process. Essays will be evaluated based on clarity, relevance, and potential impact. Successful candidates will be notified and will be required to submit additional verification documents.

Required Verification Documents
Applicants must submit at least three of the following documents:
- Proof of age
- Proof of high school GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Proof of SAT/ACT scores (minimum of 1040/20)
- Evidence of completion of a college-bound curriculum (e.g., Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses)
- A letter on official organization letterhead, signed and dated, verifying a minimum of 40 hours of community service


Voter Committee for Scholarship Recipient
A separate Voter Committee will evaluate the essays submitted by scholarship applicants as part of the scholarship selection process. Committee members will assess candidates based on their demonstrated leadership, academic achievements, and commitment to community service to determine the scholarship recipient.
